Motivation creates starts. Systems create finishes.

Momentum is a product concept about why most people don't finish what they start. Instead of more reminders, it designs accountability into the system itself.

01 · Problem

Most tools optimise activity, not completion

  • Streaks reward showing up, not finishing.
  • Notifications remind, but don't create follow-through.
  • Progress is private, so quitting costs nothing.

The problem isn't motivation. It's the absence of accountability.

02 · Idea

Squads of four with shared, visible goals

Momentum puts people into small squads with a weekly proof of work. When everyone is visible, absence is felt immediately, and the design aims to reduce social loafing.

03 · Weekly loop

Progress is measured weekly, not eventually

The weekly loop: commit, act, submit proof, review, repeat

04 · Guardrails

The system protects momentum, not feelings

Proof of work

Tangible output, not checkmarks.

Forgiveness logic

Minor lapses don't end the run, so people don't drop off early.

Automatic replacement

Missed commitments trigger replacement, so the squad keeps moving.

05 · Platform

One system, two surfaces

Mobile

Keeps momentum alive between work sessions: light, frequent, low friction.

Web

Where accountability happens: proof submission, review and consequences.
